Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turned back the clock on Tuesday night as he smashed his way into the Champions League history books with a record-breaking strike for Marseille in their 2-0 win over Ajax at the Stade Vélodrome.

At 36 years and three months, the Gabon hotshot became the second-oldest African ever to score in the competition, sitting just behind Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who last netted at 36 years and eight months.

The ex-Arsenal and Dortmund star proved age is just a number as he coolly slotted home, showing the instincts and ice-cold finishing that made him one of Europe’s deadliest forwards.

Once famed for blistering pace, Auba has reinvented himself as a predator in the box — and his goal was a reminder that his sharpness hasn’t faded.

“This was never just about the numbers,” Aubameyang said after the game.

“It’s about showing that at every stage of your career, you can still find ways to make a difference.”
