Born in the city of Kumasi, Sabon-Zango precisely, Muntari Mohammed- who now represents Qatar at national level, scored the Maroons first ever goal at the World Cup in disappointing defeat to Senegal in their second group game.
The host nation suffered another painful 1-3 loss to the Teranga Lions at the Al Thumama Stadium to mark their eviction from the competition.
The defeat means they are out of the World Cup mathematically, having lost their first game to Ecuador- making them the second host nation to fail to qualify from the first phase of the tournament after South Africa in 2010.

He was brought on to replace captain Hasan Al Heidos on the 74th minute and just four minutes after his introduction, the former T.I Amass, Kumasi student connected with a powerful header to beat Eduard Mendy after receiving a decent Ismail Mohammed cross from the right.
Coach Felix Sanchez men are currently sitting at the foot of Group A with no point, and will face the Netherlands in their final group game.
