Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling is eager to leave the club for an overseas move after an underwhelming loan spell at rivals Arsenal during the 2024/25 season.
The English winger is set to seek a new challenge with a Champions League club, with Chelsea pricing the former Manchester City forward at a reduced £20 million, per reports.
He returned to Stamford Bridge after his loan spell expired but was omitted from Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad, which defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to eventually win the inaugural edition of the new 32-team continental competition.
The 30-year-old forward is drawing interest from several elite overseas clubs and is keen to conclude his distinguished Premier League career, as reported by The Athletic.
Having started pre-season training with the Europa League winners last week, the English international is now poised to leave his homeland for a new chapter abroad.
Since departing Manchester City in 2022, Sterling has struggled to find success at the club level and internationally, with no appearances for the England national team since the 2022 World Cup.
Following Enzo Maresca’s appointment at Chelsea, the former Liverpool forward was sent on a loan deal to Arsenal last summer. However, he failed to rediscover his lost form, failing to record a single goal and making just seven starts for the Gunners last season.
Sterling still has two years remaining on his Chelsea contract, but The Athletic claims that they will accept an offer slightly below half of what was paid to secure his signature from City.
Chelsea are set to offload several out-of-favour players while prioritizing a move to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig for a reported fee of £60 million or less, before the summer transfer window shuts.
