South Africa solidified their participation in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 4-0 victory against Namibia in their second group game, keeping their chances of progression alive until the final round of matches of the group stage.
South Africa put up a dominant performance throughout the match as they were torn in the flesh for the Namibians. Bafana Bafana gazed ahead after being awarded an early penalty following a thorough VAR check after a handball incident inside the Namibia box. South African talisman - Percy Tau stepped up and ceremoniously buried the opener after 14 minutes.
South Africa kept the game on a high tempo as they scored two more goals through Themba Zwani in the 25th and 40th minutes respectively.
Namibia gaffer Benjamin threw two players into the game after recess but Namibia's lack of ideas in front of goal was evident as they squandered all the chances that came their way in the early stages of the second half.
South Africa hung on to their blazing spark as they scored their fourth goal in the 75th minute through substitute Thapelo Maseko, who stunningly tapped in Teboho Mokoena’s cross from close range to round up the scoring for Bafana Bafana.
The numbers in Group E are heavily breathing out as the group remains wide open as South Africa have moved to second place, level on points with the Brave Warriors of Namibia. The scores of the group will be settled as South Africa take on a desperate Tunisia side, while Namibia will clash with Group E leaders Mali.
