Mali posted a hard fought 2-0 win over South Africa at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly on Tuesday night in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Eagles are now unbeaten in 13 Nations Cup opening games. Mali started the game on a good note as Amadou Haidara went for the kill in a bid to put his side upfront as he hits a shot towards the top right corner from the edge of the box but his spectacular volley was saved by Bafana Bafana shot-stopper Ronwen Williams.
SuperSport United star Thapelo Maseko delivered a promising cross into the Mali box but Sikou Niakate elbowed Evidence Magkopa which earned Bafana a penalty. Percy Tau stepped up to take the spot-kick but unfortunately, he ballooned the ball over the bar which he lookedon in disbelief.

Mali were almost gifted an opener before halftime following a confusing mix-up between Siyanda Zulu and safest-pair-of-hands Williams, but Lassine Sinayoko failed to latch home.
Mali then squandered another opportunity to break the deadlock after recess, with Haidara blazing his close-range over the bar following a superb link-up play involving Falayi Sacko and Sekou Koita.
The Eagles finally lifted off the lid on the game when Koita’s free-kick hit the underside of the bar and captain Hamari Troare pounced on it quickly to strike home. Mali’s second goal followed six minutes later courtesy of Sinayoko - who outclassed Xulu and prod a classic finish into the net.
Bafana pressed forward to at least pull a goal back but all their efforts were thwarted by the robust Malian defence.
