Head coach of Egypt U20, Osama Nabih says his players have become mentally stable after defeating Ghana in the quarterfinals of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Young Pharaohs were gritty and plucky in their match with Ghana on Monday, as they surged past the Black Satellites to qualify for the semifinals of the tournament in 5-4 penalty shootout.
The win over Ghana propelled Egypt to secure qualification to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.
“The pressure of qualifying for the World Cup was massive. Now that the players have done it, they’ve gained psychological stability. It gives them peace of mind to focus on playing their football,” Coach Osama Nabih said as quoted by CAFOnline.
Despite missing out on qualification to the U20 mundial, the Black Satellites have been applauded for their fighting spirit during their time in the tournament.
