Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has issued a stark warning to the Black Stars ahead of their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).
Speaking ahead of the crucial hurdle, Asante Twum acknowledged the challenge that awaits the team in Meknes but stressed the need for focus and determination, citing the painful lessons from Ghana’s setback in Chad earlier in the qualifiers.
"The game against the Central African Republic will be a tricky one," he said.
"But we don’t want to experience what happened in Chad again, so we must do everything possible to win this game. We must get this done to make the final game against Comoros a crowning moment for the team and the entire country."
Ghana currently finds itself in a tight qualification race, despite manning the top spot of Group I with 19 points, three clear of their nearest challengers — Madagascar.
The clash with CAR is set for Wednesday, October 8, at 16:00 GMT, and will take place at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes. This crucial hurdle is expected to play a decisive role in the Black Stars’ bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
