Ghana's sole representative in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League, Medeama SC have officially moved their home venue from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi for the group stage phase of the competition.
Medeama SC hosted the two preliminary games — Remo Stars and Horoya AC — at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
However, the management of the Tarkwa based side have decided to play their group stages matches at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and a letter has officially been submitted to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the football governing wrote to the Ghana Football Association that the only stadiums in Ghana that meets its requirements for the group stage of the inter-club competitions are Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The famous Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi is described in the football circle as ‘the slaughter house’ of Ghana football, the venue has been a difficult grounds for visiting teams when playing against the Black Stars of Ghana or two-time CAF Champions League winners Asante Kotoko.
The club's new home, T&A Park which is under construction to a modern-day football edifice was announced few days ago by the Tarkwa Nsuem Member of Parliament, George Mireku Duker that the stadium will be available to be used in November 2023.
Medeama SC, who have been housed in Group D of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League group stage phase, will commence their campaign against record-title holders Al Ahly in Cairo before hosting Belouizdad at the Baba Yara Stadium in the second round.
The next home games will be against Young Africans and Al Ahly in that order.
The CAF Champions League group stage matches are scheduled to begin on Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26, 2023, and end on March 1 and 2, 2024.
