Former Ghana Football Association(GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi insists that Asante Kotoko and Ghanaian clubs shouldn't expect to perform well after selling their players to their competitors in Africa.

Franck Mbella Etouga, Mudasiru Salifu, Imoro Ibrahim, Razak Abalora, Fabio Gama gave all left Asante Kotoko.

Franck Mbella Etouga and Imoro Ibrahim joined Egyptian side Al Masry and Sudanese giants Al Hilal respectively.

Asante Kotoko exited the preliminary stages of CAF Champions League against RC Kadiogo on penalties.

Ghanaian clubs have found it difficult to make an impact in African Inter-clubs competitions in recent years.

After Hearts of Oak won the maiden edition of the CAF Confederations Cup against Asante Kotoko in 2005, no Ghanaian club has reached the semi-finals of any CAF inter-clubs competition.

Hearts of Oak will face AS Bamako in the 1st leg of Confederations Cup qualifiers in Mali this weekend.

Kwesi Nyantakyi insists that you shouldn't expect to perform better than your competitors after selling your best players to them.

"I feel the quality of players is also a problem. Asante Kotoko sold all their quality players to teams they will be competing with. So, if you sell these players to your competitors you don't expect to do well" he told Kings TV.

"I feel we must invest in players and the technical team so they can train the players well, it is very important. It's all about money and we need a way to support teams playing in Africa by giving them some financial incentives.
