Ugandan forward Steven Dese Mukwala has officially left Simba SC, ending an 18-month stay at the Tanzanian giants to sign for Libya’s top-flight club Al-Nasr.
Mukwala, 26, joined Simba from Asante Kotoko in June 2024 and quickly made his mark, netting 13 goals in 24 appearances across league and cup competitions. His performances earned him a reputation as one of the league’s most exciting attacking talents.
Taking to social media, the striker shared a heartfelt goodbye with Simba supporters and teammates:
“Thank you, Simba SC. Some memories will last forever. Till we meet again. Bye.”
Recent weeks saw growing uncertainty around Mukwala’s future in Dar es Salaam, following stalled contract negotiations. Reports suggest that Simba were ready to move on after bringing in Senegalese forward Libasse Gueye and seeing the return of midfielder Clatous Chama.
The club reportedly offered Mukwala a loan to Kenyan side Gor Mahia, but the Ugandan star chose to pursue a new challenge abroad instead.
Mukwala’s departure closes a memorable chapter in Tanzania, where fans will recall his pace, creativity, and clinical finishing that made him a key figure for Simba SC.
