In recent times fans have called for the sacking of Black Stars coach Chris Hughton following their poor run of results in recent games.
While some, including former Ghana striker Joetex Asamoah Frimpong have called for patience, whereby, he feels the calls for Hughton's sacking isn't the right time, as he charged the Ghana FA to roll the dice with the coach's retainment in leading the team to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
“With two months to the start of the AFCON, I don’t think it will be prudent to show Chris Hughton the exit door. When you sack him, it means you have to replace him with a new coach who will come with a different style and that's not how things are done in football," Joetex told Kessben FM
"Let's give him a chance to lead the team to the AFCON; if he doesn't do well, we fire him,” he added.
Hughton, meanwhile, is stepping into an uncertain future as his status as a top-level modern-day coach is diminishing.
Also, certainly in terms of the continental showpiece next year, Hughton might need to change his tactless tactics of his players not playing good football and their falling win standard.
