Black Queens have made it to the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations despite suffering a narrow 1-0 loss against Namibia in the second leg at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Ghana due to a 3-1 in the first leg last Friday in Accra, and a 3-2 on aggregate, have won the tie and are through to the WAFCON for the first time since 2018.
Coach Nora Hauptle made two changes from the team that played in the first round m, introducing Stella Nyamekye and Ernestina Abambila.
The Black Queens started well and were the dominant side in terms of possession as Vivien Konadu Adjei came close to getting the opener on the 7th minute but her solo effort ended in a side net.
Namibia also responded on a higher note with some goal attempts but all their efforts were checked by the visitors backline. They never relented and kept on pushing which eventually got them the opener on the 22nd minute.
In the second half, both teams returned on an explosive note, leaving an even exchange and an open game in Pretoria as they attacked with so much intent and purpose.
The Namibians relied on too much strength and long balls of which the Queens are really struggling to match, leaving them chasing their own shadows at some point in the game.
Zenatha Coleman came so close to doubling the lead for the homesters but her effort was tipped away by goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan to a wasted corner kick.
On the 74th minute, Ghana broke on a counter as Doris Boaduwaa made a good run from the right to set up Anastasia Achiaa at the edge of the box who went for a power but her effort went wide for a goalkick.
Both teams fought really hard in the final fifteen minutes of the game but the second phase produced no goal as it finished 1-0 for Namibia after full time.
The Black Queens ten-game winning streak under coach Nora Hauptle finally came to an end but most important thing is they are through to the 2024 WAFCON which will be held in Morocco early next year
