The Sudan Football Association have officially announced Ghanaian gaffer James Akwesi Appiah as the new head coach of their senior national team. 

The 63-year-old is switching to the North African country on a three-year-deal after a fruitful negotiations.

The experience gaffer has been out of coaching for sometime now since ending his second spell with the Black Stars, and has just recently worked with lower-division side Kenpong Academy as Technical Director and was also part of Asante Kotoko's Interim Management Committee.

Kwesi Appiah is known very well by Sudan football faithfuls and was mainly handed the role with reference to his previous three-year spell at Al Khartoum from 2014-2017, where he did incredibly great by qualifying them to the CAF Confederations Cup.

Speculations has it that, his backroom staff, from his assistant to goalkeeper's trainer and physical coach will al be his countrymen as they look to help the Secretarybirds to establish themselves as a force in the Africa game.

He's had two stints with the Black Stars and was the first local coach to qualify the team to the FIFA World Cup, thus 2014- staged in Brazil.

With no friendlies announced next month by the Sudan FA yet, coach Kwesi Appiah is most likely to play his first competitive game on November 13, against Togo in their opening game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
