Swedish side IF Elfsborg have confirmed the signing of Sierra Leone midfielder Momoh Kamara on a season-long loan from Minnesota United, with an option to make the deal permanent.

The 20-year-old arrives in Sweden eager to make an impact, describing the move as a significant step in his developing career.

“I’m excited and happy to be here. Elfsborg is a big club in Sweden, and this is a big deal for me to come here,” Kamara said.

Known for his intensity and attacking drive, Kamara has been identified as a dynamic midfielder with strong offensive qualities. He most recently featured for Minnesota United’s second team in the MLS Next Pro league, where he impressed with four goals and two assists in 14 appearances last season. He has also made a bright start to the new campaign, contributing an assist in the opening matches.

On the international stage, Kamara has steadily risen through the ranks, earning six senior caps for Sierra Leone national football team. One of his standout moments came during the World Cup qualifiers, where he scored his first senior international goal in a victory over Ethiopia national football team.

“It was awesome to score my first goal with the national team in the World Cup qualifiers, it gave me a lot of confidence,” he added.

Kamara’s journey to Elfsborg has taken him across multiple continents—from his parent club Mattia FC to spells in Nigeria, Portugal, and the United States—highlighting his rapid development and adaptability.

Now in Borås, the young midfielder is focused on growth and contribution.

“I’m coming to Elfsborg to challenge myself, learn new things and help the team as much as possible. Hopefully I can also start training with the team soon, and I’m really looking forward to it,” Kamara concluded.
