Ghanaian referees Daniel Laryea and Roland Nii Addy Dodoo have been selected for the TotalEnergies Championship of African Nations (CHAN) 2024 tournament in August.
Roland Addy has been chosen as one of the 26 assistant referees, while Daniel Laryea will serve as one of the 18 Video Match Officials (VMOs) for the tournament.
Addy, who recently participated in a final preparatory camp in Cairo, has officiated in several high-profile domestic and continental matches, earning respect for his calm presence and accuracy on the field. His selection highlights the growing trust CAF places in him and other Ghanaian match officials.
Daniel Laryea has built an outstanding reputation locally and abroad and is undoubtedly one of the best referees in Africa.
A total of 70 match officials have been selected, including 26 referees, 26 assistant referees, and 18 Video Match Officials (VMOs) representing over 30 CAF Member Associations across the continent.
The list reflects CAF’s continued commitment to enhancing officiating standards by blending seasoned referees with emerging talent, as well as further reinforcing gender inclusion with several women officials appointed to the prestigious tournament.
All match officials are expected to arrive in the host nations prior to kick-off for final preparations, including a pre-tournament referees workshop covering theoretical and practical sessions to align with CAF's officiating protocols and technological tools like VAR.
CHAN 2024 will kick off on 2 August 2025 with matches spread across Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, and Kampala, culminating in the final on 30 August.
