Badreldin Ibrahim, the Legal and Regulatory Officer of the Sudanese Football Federation has underscored the significance of professionalism from coach Kwesi Appiah as Sudan gears up to face the Black Stars in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana has been paired in Group F with Sudan, Angola and Niger in the main international men's association football competition draw.
The qualifiers are expected to start in September 2024 and end in November 2024, with the top two teams in the group booking a place in the tournament in Morocco.
With Kwasi Appiah, a former Ghana international and current coach of Sudan, fueling arguments about possible conflicts of interest.
But, speaking to Angel TV, Badreldin Ibrahim recognized the issue but he is optimistic Appiah will exhibit top-notch professionalism.
"The conflict is there, but it is a unique and emotionally charged situation for Kwasi Appiah," Ibrahim said.
"Playing against Ghana in the AFCON qualifiers is a test of Coach Kwasi Appiah’s professionalism and his commitment to the Sudanese Football Federation.
"He has very good experience that he can bring to the table, which can be advantageous for us, but it will be proven when we see the results and performance. But the conflict is there," he said.
