Ghanaian youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has described helping Leicester City gain promotion to the Premier League as one of the best moments in his career.
The 20-year-old shared this sentiment after the club announced his permanent signing on Tuesday, securing a five-year deal from Sporting CP.
Fatawu played for the Foxes last season and was instrumental in their promotion success. “For me, [to win promotion] was amazing,” Fatawu said. “It felt so good and it was one of the best moments in my career. I feel so good and I just want to keep going."
His impactful performances in the Championship were crucial to Leicester City's triumphant season, which culminated in their title-winning campaign and subsequent promotion to the Premier League. During last season's 43 appearances across various competitions, Fatawu demonstrated his talent with seven goals, including a memorable hat-trick in a commanding 5-0 victory over Southampton at Filbert Way.
To mark his permanent signing, the club collaborated with local band and passionate supporters, The Mercians. At a ceremony held at King Power Stadium, the Coalville-based musicians surprised Fatawu with a special rendition of the Blue Army's distinctive chant.
