Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has expressed appreciation towards the beautiful gesture he received from the Olympique Marseille supporters last night when he faced them with Le Havre AC in the French Ligue 1.
The 34-year-old was given a deserved standing ovation by the supporters of the Olympians - where he started his career and spent eight years at the Stade Vélodrome.
He opened his season's goal-scoring account for Le Havre AC in their heavy 5-1 away defeat to Marseille last Sunday evening.
Andre netted the consolation goal for the Navy-Blues with a beautiful header from a cross delivered by Antoine Joujou in the 85th minute.
Upon scoring, the experienced attacker refused to celebrate as a sign of respect to his former club and the supporters repaid his respect by rising on their feets to give him a huge round of applause.
Speaking after the game, Andre Ayew was very elated for the moment - one he will never forget and has reiterated Marseille will forever be his dream and favourite club.
"Honestly, I want to thank all the people of Marseille. I am touched from the bottom of my heart. This club has given me so much. After the Padre, everything he has done, I have left my mark. It has always been my dream club."
Ayew has made 10 appearances for Le Havre AC across all competitions in the ongoing season so far.
