Black Queens forward Evelyn Badu has joined Canadian club Montreal Roses ahead of the 2026 season.

The 23-year-old makes the move after leaving French side Fleury 91, marking the next step in her career after playing in Ghana, Norway and France.
Badu, who previously starred for Hasaacas Ladies, said joining the Roses is a move she has long hoped for.

“Joining the Montreal Roses is an opportunity I’ve been waiting for,” Badu said.

“Women’s professional soccer in North America is experiencing exceptional growth, and the Super League North is part of that movement. Montreal is building something ambitious, and I want to be a part of it. I can’t wait to contribute on the field and help this team reach new heights.”

She rose to prominence during the 2021/22 season with Hasaacas Ladies, helping the Hasmal Ladies achieve domestic and continental success. That form earned her moves to Norway, where she played for Avaldnes IL and Molde, before a short stint in France.

Badu also made history as the first player to win the Golden Boot at the CAF Women’s Champions League. She later added other awards for best inter-club player and young player.

Montreal Roses sporting director Marinette Pichon believes the Ghana international will have a big impact.

“Evelyn possesses a rare combination of technical skill and top-level experience,” Pichon said.

“She has shone on the African continent, played in demanding European leagues, and knows how to score in crucial moments. She will bring an extra dimension to our attack and the winning mentality we want to build.”
