The 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup gold medalist has complete a surprised move to the Dutch club in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Dutch Eredivisie outfit NAC Breda have announced the acquisition of former Ghana captain Andre Ayew on a free transfer as he looks forward to earn call-up to the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 36-year-old has joined the Yellow and Black lads for the remainder of the 2025–26 season's campaign with an option of renewal based on his performance.
The club's official statement reads: “In the battle for survival in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie, NAC has added André Ayew (36), a new striker to its squad. The experienced French-Ghanaian striker has signed a contract until the end of the current season, with a club option for another season in Breda.”
Ayew has been unattached since the end of the 2024–25 season after leaving French club Le Havre and he has been training with his father's club Nania FC to stay fit to return to the turf for the past months.
Ayew made his mark, particularly at Olympique de Marseille, Swansea City, and West Ham United. He has almost 600 official appearances in the Champions League, Ligue 1, Ligue 2, Premier League, Championship, and the Turkish Super Lig, scoring over 160 goals in those competitions.
He has capped 120 times for the senior national team of Ghana with 24 goals to his credit.
NAC Breda currently lies at the bottom of the Dutch Eredivisie with just 13 points.
