Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has completed a move to Iraqi Premier League club Al Kadhimiya SC, signing a one-year contract that ushers in the next chapter of his professional career.
The 33-year-old Ghanaian enjoyed a distinguished spell with the Kumasi-based giants, where he became known for his technical ability, vision, and command of midfield play. Blay’s leadership and experience will be key assets for his new club as they prepare for the challenges of the Iraqi top flight.
Blay’s career spans both club and international football. He made his Black Stars debut against Sao Tome and Príncipe during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, earning recognition for his consistent performances in the Ghana Premier League.
His journey with Kotoko began in the 2019/20 season, when he joined the Porcupine Warriors on loan from Medeama SC. Blay quickly impressed, scoring two goals in 12 appearances and commanding the midfield, winning over supporters with his composure and influence on the pitch.
His performances earned him a permanent move to Kotoko in 2021, where over four seasons he made 56 league appearances, frequently wore the captain’s armband, and played a pivotal role in the club’s league and cup campaigns.
Blay officially parted ways with Kotoko in June 2025, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, commitment, and professionalism.
At Al Kadhimiya SC, Blay is expected to inject experience, tactical intelligence, and midfield stability into the squad. His arrival reflects the growing trend of Ghanaian players taking their talents to leagues in Asia and the Middle East, showcasing their skills while helping clubs strengthen their squads.
