Ghanaian-born midfielder Baba Alhassan has been handed his first-ever call-up to the Uganda national team, marking a major milestone in his international football journey.

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put named the 25-year-old FC Steaua Bucharest midfielder in his 28-man provisional squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Chad and Morocco as the Cranes fine-tune preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The friendlies, set for November 15 and 19 in Morocco, will give Put the chance to assess his squad before finalising selections for the AFCON tournament in December.

Alhassan’s inclusion has generated plenty of buzz, as the Ghana-born midfielder, who recently became eligible to represent Uganda is the only new face in the squad. His creativity, energy, and technical quality are expected to add a fresh spark to Uganda’s midfield setup.

Alhassan has been one of Steaua Bucharest’s key cogs this season, making 21 appearances in all competitions and catching the eye with his consistency in midfield.
