Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang was named Man of the Match following a standout performance in St Patrick’s Athletic's goalless draw against Shelbourne in the Irish Premier League on Friday.
The former West Ham United shot-stopper delivered a commanding display between the sticks, earning a match rating of 7.7 after making five crucial saves across both halves to deny the visitors a winning goal.
Anang has been a key figure for Stephen Kenny’s side this season, featuring in all eight league matches. He has conceded just seven goals and boasts an impressive five clean sheets so far.
This marks the Teshie-born goalkeeper’s third stint with St Patrick’s Athletic. He officially rejoined the Dublin-based club in July 2024 after his contract with West Ham United expired, bringing an end to a seven-year stay with the English Premier League outfit.
The 24-year-old initially joined St Patrick’s on loan during the 2021/22 season before returning to West Ham, where he continued his development with the U23 side and was part of the senior squad that won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023.
Though he represented England at U20 level in 2019, Anang remains eligible to play for Ghana at senior international level.
