Ghana winger Osman Bukari is set to return to European football after agreeing a record-breaking €5m move to Polish Ekstraklasa side Widzew Łódź.
The deal, once final paperwork is completed with MLS club Austin FC, will become the most expensive transfer in league history, surpassing the €3m record paid by Legia Warsaw for Mileta Rajović. Bukari has already passed his medical and signed his contract, with club-to-club documentation now being finalised.
The 27-year-old right-winger, joined Austin from Red Star Belgrade in 2024 for €7m and made 39 appearances, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
Bukari made a name for himself in Serbia, where he enjoyed a breakout 2023–24 season with Red Star, registering seven league goals and five assists, alongside two goals and two assists in the Champions League.
Bukari began his European career at AS Trencin, recording 16 goals and 25 assists in 66 matches, before spells with Gent and Nantes.
At international level, Bukari has earned 19 caps for Ghana, scoring three goals, and is best remembered for his goal against Portugal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Widzew have also signed Christopher Cheng and Lukas Lerager this winter, but Bukari’s arrival marks a clear message as he returns to Europe at an important stage of his career.
