West Ham striker Michail Antonio has spoken highly of teammate Mohammed Kudus, praising the Ghanaian forward's exceptional performances at the club and describing him as a "star."
Antonio, currently in Ghana to support the “Samba Stars Academy,” a football initiative focused on empowering underprivileged youth, took time to reflect on Kudus' quality as a player.
Antonio traveled to Ghana to show support for his close friend and partner, Michael Appiason, and was warmly greeted by the Ghanaian Hammers, the official West Ham supporters club in Ghana.
"Starboy, he is quality to be fair—unbelievable player, how he dribbles the ball, scores goals," Antonio said. "He has great ambition for himself, and hopefully, we can get some players like that from the academy."
He went on to express confidence in Kudus’ potential: "He is a quality player, and he is someone we definitely need in our side. Things haven’t gone well this year, but I know he’s going to come back fully ready to go."
Despite his praise, Kudus is currently serving a five-game suspension following a violent conduct charge during a match against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The incident occurred when Kudus was involved in a scuffle with Spurs’ Micky van de Ven, kicking and pushing him, which led to a red card after a VAR review. The altercation escalated further when Kudus also pushed Pape Matar Sarr, leading to a three-game suspension. The English FA extended the suspension by two additional games due to the nature of his actions.
As a result, Kudus will miss several upcoming West Ham fixtures, including matches against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, with his return expected after the international break.
