English-born of Ghanaian decent, Callum Hudson-Odoi has disclosed the reason why he decided to leave Chelsea FC after sixteen years with the club.
The 22-year-old after all these times has left the Blues and has now joined another EPL campaigners Nottingham Forest on a three-year deal hoping to finally find his rhythm this time at the City Ground.
The skillful flanksman joined Chelsea in 2007 at a very young age and made his professional debut for them in January 2018 but suffered series of injuries at some point with the first team.
Despite injuries and setbacks, loan spells and others, Odoi, managed to make 126 appearances and hasn't don the blue shirt in a Premier League fixture since January 2022.
In an interview with De Telegraph, the ex- England youth international says it was his decision to finally leave the Stamford Bridge and seek a new challenge elsewhere, having admitted it wasn't an easy one to conclude on.
“Chelsea has been my home for a very long time and knowing it was time to go was emotional. It was difficult."
“We had conversations but I thought it was best if I leave — so it was a mutual agreement, but I’d say it was more my decision."
Callum Hudson-Odoi, despite being reluctant on switching his nationality to a Ghanaian, still hasn't ruled out a chance to play for the Black Stars.
