Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has pledged to bring an end to his trademark backflip celebration, conceding that his parents’ long-standing concerns have finally hit home.

The Atalanta forward, who recently thrilled fans with an acrobatic celebration against Juventus, admitted that the moment was driven purely by excitement, but it will be his last.

“My backflip celebration? My parents told me not to do it because it’s dangerous. But against Juventus, it was an adrenaline rush: I didn’t think about it, it came spontaneously. I won’t do it again. I’ll find another celebration,” he said.

Kamaldeen revealed that his gymnastic flair was honed during his time at Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, where young players are encouraged to develop in both sport and academics.

“I learned it at the Right to Dream Academy, where, in addition to football, I also did gymnastics,” he explained.

Despite being known for his explosive pace and trickery, the 23-year-old maintains that he takes more satisfaction from helping teammates than personal showmanship.

“I prefer an assist,” he added with a smile.
