Newly-appointed coach Roberto De Zerbi has described Mohammed Kudus as a key figure for Tottenham Hotspur, despite the Ghanaian’s latest injury setback.
Kudus has suffered a relapse in his recovery from a long-term injury that has kept him out since January, dealing a fresh blow to Spurs as they continue to battle through a difficult season.
The North London side have struggled for consistency, going through multiple managerial changes before appointing De Zerbi, who is now tasked with steering the club away from danger.
The LilyWhites currently sit 17th on the table with 30 points, just above the relegation zone.
Speaking ahead of his first game in charge against Sunderland, De Zerbi admitted Kudus was central to his plans but stressed the team must adapt in his absence.
“Kudus was in my head a crucial player, especially for the position, but we have to look forward anyway.”
“I think we have a lot of very good attackers and we have to help them, to put them in the best condition to show their qualities.”
Tottenham Hotspur will play as guests to Sunderland on Sunday, April 12, at 13:00 GMT, at the Stadium of Light.
