The former Ghana international has admitted the difficulties in trying to get his two sons persuaded to switch nationality allegiance and represent the West African powerhouse on the international stage

Ex-Black Stars skipper CK Akonnor has asserted that ''it's difficult to convince'' his German-born Ghanaian sons Charles Herrmann and Jesaja Herrmann to play for Ghana at the senior national team level.

With the glaring talent of the duo, football fans and connoisseurs across the length and breadth of the four-time African champions nation are now clamouring for their invite to the country's football senior men's national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico in June this year.

Nonetheless, the man who was responsible for their upbringing in Germany, is now relishing the opportunity to get them to switch nationality allegiance and play for Ghana although such a mission remains a difficult task to achieve given their strong ties to the European nation.

Speaking in an interview, the former VfL Wolfsburg midfielder has told Graphic Sports: ''It’s difficult to convince them to come to Ghana. Because they grew up in Germany, but of course, if need be or if the opportunity arises, we will be able to make that decision.''

Both of them made transfer moves to their interested suitors this January, with Charles Herrmann linking up with Belgian Pro League side Cercle Brugge whiles Jesaja Herrmann teamed up with German lowly division side FC Bocholt.

The duo have so far represented the Germany national youth teams on the international stage.
