Danish-born Ghanaian forward Malik Pimpong was on target for FC Midtjylland U19, but his second-half strike proved only a brief lifeline as the Danes fell 4-1 to FC Köln in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday night, losing 5-2 on aggregate.
Pimpong, who is a son of former Black Stars striker Razak Pimpong levelled the tie shortly after the break as he continues to follow in his father’s footsteps. But the 17-year-old forward’s effort sparked only a two-minute reprieve before the German champions wrestled back control.

Fynn Schenten had given Köln the lead midway through the first half, and after Pimpong’s reply early in the second, Kristiyan Irmiev restored the visitors advantage in the 50th minute. Schenten then doubled his tally with 25 minutes to play, before Jonathan Friemel wrapped up the win late on to send the Billy Goats through.
Pimpong, who has represented Denmark at youth level, remains eligible to feature for Ghana’s Black Stars despite his international appearances so far.
