Ghanaian forward Kelvin Kwarteng Yeboah scored twice to help Minnesota United FC secure a two-all home draw with LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer on Saturday night.

LA Galaxy snatched a 2-2 late draw courtesy of a 90th-minute strike from substitute Emiro Garces – which was his debut professional goal.

Yeboah opened the scoring in the 18th minute when he popped up to send in a rebound following a handling mistake from goalkeeper John McCarthy.

The visitors restored the parity of the game in the 26th minute through Christian Ramirez, who was handed a starting berth against his former club.

The 24-year-old netted his second goal of the day from the spot to give Minnesota United a 2-1 lead in the 87th minute of the game.

Three minutes later, Garces announced his presence with his first professional league goal to end the match in a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Field.

After Minnesota failed to clear a corner kick, Miguel Berry poked the ball back toward the penalty area, where Garces met it with a low finish through traffic past goalkeeper Alec Smir.

Yeboah, who was born in Ghana before leaving for Italy at age nine, has managed to score four goals in five matches for Minnesota United in the ongoing Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

Kelvin Yeboah eligible to switch nationality to Ghana?

He was once handed a debut call-up to the senior national team of Ghana in 2021 by coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor, having previously trained with the Ghana U20. However, Yeboah rejected the Black Stars to honour the Italy U21 invitation.

Yeboah remains eligible to represent Ghana in the future. He is the nephew of Ghanaian legend Anthony Yeboah.
