The versatile Ghanaian enforcer has sealed a deal with the Austrian top-flight outfit having excelled in his trial sessions over the past weeks

Dutch-born Ghanaian midfielder Denzel Owusu has joined  Austrian Bundesliga side SK Austria Klagenfurt on a two-year deal with an option of extension to a further year upon its expiration, the club have confirmed.

The 21-year-old, who is linking up with the Klagenfurt-based club on a free transfer, was unattached since severing ties with his Dutch boyhood club Feyenoord Rotterdam in 2022.

''Austria Klagenfurt is strengthening its squad with Denzel Owusu. The former Dutch junior team player impressed the Violets' management as a test pilot in recent weeks and has now signed a contract until June 30, 2026 plus an option. The 21-year-old defensive all-rounder could be in the squad for the first time after the international break on November 23 (5 p.m., Sky live) in  the 14th round of the 2024/25 ADMIRAL Bundesliga at Sturm Graz,'' an official confirmation over his capturing read.

The Ghana-prospect had this to say right after inking his deal with his new employers: ''I've had a difficult time, but I never thought about giving up and I'm only looking forward. I'm grateful that I've been given the opportunity to present myself in Klagenfurt and I'm very happy that I can now play for the club. The team welcomed me with open arms from day one, the team spirit at Austria is really extraordinary. Now I'll do everything I can to ensure that we achieve our goals together.''

Sporting director Günther Gorenzel added to his communications network: ''During training, it was immediately apparent that Denzel had received a great technical and tactical education. But he is also a prime example of how quickly you can disappear from the scene in professional football due to wrong decisions. We have now found a solution together with the boy and his agent to give him the chance to prove himself and make a fresh start at Austria. In terms of sport, he definitely has everything.''

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to play for Ghana at the international level despite representing the Netherlands national youth teams.
