The 21-year-old defender of Ghanaian heritage has sealed his loan move to the German third-tier club from his second-tier mother club in today's transfer deadline window
3. Liga side Energie Cottbus have secured the loan signing of German-born Ghanaian defender King Manu from 2. Bundesliga outfit Fortuna Düsseldorf until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
After spending the second half of last season on loan at fellow third division side FC Hansa Rostock, the former Borussia Mönchengladbach youth product is yet again set for another loan spell with the Die Lausitzer for the just-started season.
''FC Energie has agreed a loan deal for 21-year-old King Manu with second-division club Fortuna Düsseldorf. The central defender will wear the number 2 jersey of FC Energie until the end of the season,'' a statement read.
Head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz said of the loan signing of the Ghanaian youngster via his club's official website: ''We had King Manu on our list last summer as well because he is an extremely interesting player whose style of play fits exactly with what we have in mind. It is all the more pleasing that we have now been able to agree on a signing. In addition to his physique, King also brings a lot of what is sought after in modern football and, despite his young age, has already shown leadership qualities.''
Manu featured in 18 games for Hansa Rostock across all competitions during the 2024-25 football season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Cologne-born defender remains eligible to represent Ghana on the international stage.
