The German second division side have secured the signature of the 26-year-old forward of Ghanaian descent from their fellow lowly division rivals on transfer deadline day
2. Bundesliga side FC Magdeburg have announced the signing of German-born Ghanaian forward Richmond Tachie from league rivals FC Kaiserslautern in an undisclosed period of contract.
The former Borussia Dortmund Il attacker is joining the Avnet Arena campaigners on the back of a turbulent spell with his former side having failed to establish himself as a central figure at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion since his move in the summer of 2023.
A portion of a statement confirming the signing of the former VfL Wolfsburg U17 star reads: ''Shortly before the winter transfer window closed, 1. FC Magdeburg signed center forward Richmond Tachie. The 1.78-meter-tall attacking player most recently played in the second division (79 games, 15 scorer points) – for 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Both clubs have agreed to keep the transfer fee confidential.''
The Ghana-prospect forward said of his transfer move to his new side by telling the club's media channel: ''I'm very happy to be part of 1. FC Magdeburg from now on. The club's style of play suits me perfectly. The same goes for the values the club stands for, which were conveyed to me in our initial discussions. I'm especially looking forward to the fantastic atmosphere in the packed Avnet Arena, which I know from our previous encounters.''
Sporting director Otmar Schork added: ''Richmond is a player with experience in the second division who can be deployed in various attacking positions. We are convinced of his quality and believe that he can help us in the second half of the season without a long adjustment period.”
Before sealing his move to Der Club in this winter window, he took in 12 games for FC Kaiserslautern across all contests in this current 2025-26 campaign.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Berlin-born attacking forward is still eligible to represent Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the Germany U19 & U20 national youth teams.
