The Ghana-prospect teenager said of his transfer move to the former Premier League side to their club's official website: ''l am very excited about this new chapter in my career. I know the Manager and coaching staff here have a reputation for developing young players and that was a big factor in my decision. I am hungry, determined and excited to express myself in front of Stoke City’s supporters.”

Sporting director Jonathan Walters added: ''Ato is a player we have watched extensively and, when the opportunity arose to bring him in this month, we acted swiftly. He has a really strong mentality and, as a fast, dynamic winger, he is the type of player who can get you off your seat. He fits the profile of player we want in wide areas for Stoke City. At 19, he has significant development ahead of him, and we believe he will only continue to progress within our first team.”

Having been born in Ghana and raised in England, Ampah remains fit to switch nationality allegiance by playing for Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the England U18 & U20 national youth teams.
