The talented teenage sensation has penned a fresh term with the Danish top-flight side, with the new deal set to run through until 2029
Ghanaian teenager Caleb Marfo Yirenkyi has signed a five-year contract extension with Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjælland, the club have confirmed.
The 19-year-old is set to spent time with the first team following his impressive showings with the U19 youth side after putting pen to paper on the fresh terms.
Announcing the contract extension, an official confirmation statement read: ''We've already seen Caleb Yirenkyi pull on the FC Nordsjælland jersey and run onto the pitch four times this fall. And now we can look forward to seeing him many more times in the future.''
''The energetic midfielder has been promoted permanently to the Superliga squad, with whom he is currently at a training camp in Spain. And if he had intended to celebrate the permanent promotion at the training camp, there is no reason to stop there. Caleb has also had his contract extended, so that it now runs until the end of 2029.''
The Ghana-prospect budding star had this to tell his employers via the club's official website: ''t means a lot to me that I will now be a permanent part of the Superliga squad at FC Nordsjælland. In my opinion, it's about just continuing and pushing forward - both on the training pitch and in the matches. - I listen a lot to the advice my coaches give me - and try to improve my skills every single day. The last year has been a real learning experience for me. I have been allowed to play a lot of matches - both for the U19 and for the Premier League International Cup. And then I also made my debut for the Superliga team. - The thought of one day running on the pitch as part of FCN's starting line-up in Right to Dream Park is a motivation and driving force for me. It's something I dream about. But first and foremost, it's about giving everything I have in me, and then I'm sure that I will succeed one day.''
Sporting director Alexander Riget added: ''Caleb joined in January 2024, when there was a lot of competition for the midfield positions. So we assessed that he would initially need six months to get used to and become integrated. - He has done really well on our U19 team and it has been a natural step to promote him as a permanent part of the Superliga squad, where he has also already made his debut. - He is quite unique in the way he is. He is extremely hardworking and spends a lot of time developing and improving his skills. He has a very impressive physical package and he is someone who - even though we have played a match on Saturday - typically goes to the gym for a couple of hours the next day. - As a player, he is really good without the ball. He covers a huge area and can put high and hard pressure for all 90 minutes. - He has developed a lot in his game with the ball over the past year. That is also really important for our game, because in our style of play we have the ball a lot. That's why it's important that we can do that too. And he's really focused on that. - We have high expectations for Caleb - and he's definitely a player that we expect will play a role for our Superliga team from day one.''
Yirenkyi, who was groomed at Ghanaian-based Right to Dream academy, joined the Tigers in March 2024.
