The English Second-Tier side have landed the talented winger of Ghanaian descent on a long-term deal on transfer deadline day
English Championship side Millwall FC have announced the signing of London-born Ghanaian winger Benicio Baker-Boaitey from Premier League outfit Brighton on a permanent deal.
The 21-year-old, who spent the first half of the ongoing season on loan at League Two side Port Vale FC, is moving to The Den Stadium campaigners in an undisclosed period of contract in this January transfer window.
An excerpt of an official confirmation over the signing of the nimble footed Ghana-prospect winger read: ''Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Benicio Baker.''
''The 21-year-old winger joins from Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee, putting pen-to-paper on a long-term contract and becoming The Lions' sixth signing of the January transfer window.''
Sporting director Steve Gallen commented on the capturing of the former FC Porto Youth man via the club's official website: ''We're delighted to welcome Benicio Baker to Millwall - we see him as an exciting prospect for the club."
"Another England youth international, Benicio ticks a number of boxes we're looking to recruit for at his young age of 21. He is an exciting winger who will add plenty of pace and skill to the squad, which will get fans off their seats.''
"Benicio has already gained some key experience in the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as testing himself out on loan in League Two with Port Vale.''
"He'll link up with Alex Neil and the first-team squad immediately which, like Ajay Matthews, will be hugely beneficial to his development. We look forwward to seeing what he can add to the club."
Baker-Boaitey, having spent time with Brighton U23 youth side, failed to cement his position in the mainstream setup of The Seagulls since linking up with them from Portuguese outfit FC Porto in 2022.
Prior to his transfer move, he figured in 14 games across all competitions for Brighton U21 side in the ongoing 2024-25 football season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the London-born winger still remains fit to play for Ghana at the international level despite featuring for the England U16 and U20 national youth teams.
