English-born Ghanaian international Tariq Lamptey scored a sumptuous goal last night to salvage a pulsating 2-2 draw for Brighton and Hove Albion at away at Aston Villa.

The Seagulls opened account through Ivorian international Tariq Lamptey in just 12 minutes. However, goals from Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers in each half handed the hosts the lead for the first time in the game.

“We’d like to have nicked it at the end, but after we got back on level terms it felt like a fair result,” he said after the 2-2 draw.

“For the goal I just arrived on the edge of the box and it fell nicely for me and it was great to see it hit the back of the net.

“The changes we made helped. We know we have got quality players who can come off the bench and make a difference.”

Brighton, who have won just once in 15 away games at Villa, remained in 10th place on the table with 27 points and will host Arsenal in the next round of matches.

Tariq Lamptey has scored three goals and provided two assists in 10 appearances across all competitions for Brighton this season so far.
