Former Manchester City striker Paul Dickov has heaped praise on Jeremy Doku, describing the Belgian-Ghanaian winger as one of the most dangerous attackers in Europe following his explosive form this season.
Doku delivered a scintillating performance in City’s 3-0 win over Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, using his blistering pace, flair, and sharp decision-making to repeatedly tear through the Reds’ defence. His display has reignited conversations about his enormous potential — conversations that were once overshadowed by inconsistency and injury setbacks.
Since arriving at Manchester City, the 23-year-old has steadily grown under Pep Guardiola, but this season has marked a significant step forward in his confidence and end product. Compared to his previous Premier League campaigns, where he recorded just three goals and seven assists, Doku now looks more composed, mature, and decisive in the attacking third.
Dickov, speaking to Best Betting Bonuses, believes Doku has become one of Europe’s most dangerous players.
“I would say he’s probably the best in Europe at the minute,” Dickov said. “Not just because of his performance against Liverpool, which was top drawer, but even before that game I said that despite Erling Haaland’s goals, Doku has consistently been City’s best player and biggest threat.”
He added that the winger’s transformation is the result of hard work and increased maturity.
“People were forgetting last season and questioning his end product. Maybe he was playing at a mile-a-minute and his crossing or finishing suffered a bit. But he’s worked so hard on his game. He’s only 23, still a young boy, and he’s just impossible to defend when he gets you one-on-one.”
Doku’s performance against Liverpool also marked a milestone, as he has now made 100 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions, scoring 17 goals.
