Black Stars midfielder, Forson Amankwah has admitted he’s always dreamed of playing in England and is very excited for the opportunity and added his ultimate aim at the moment is playing at the World Cup.
The 22-year-old currently plies his trade with English Championship fold Norwich City and joined last summer after spending three years with Austrian giants RB Salzburg.
Despite battling injuries and also faced adaptation problem, the mercurial midfielder still managed to put up a great overall performance in his debut season and is hoping for an upgrade of that going forward.
His main highlights for the last campaign at the Carrow Road was his dying embers brace that powered a comeback against Coventry City early this year which saw him make the league’s team of round 26
In an interview with Flashcore, the former WAFA star expressed excitement for finally playing in England and revealed how the journey has been for him so far
“It was a great feeling to play in England. A lot of football players want to play in England. It was a great feeling," he said.
“I would say the league is tough. Really physical and more intense. In Austria, it was also intense, but the physicality is different. It's my first year, so I will get used to it,” the midfielder added
“My best moment was when I came in to score the goals against Coventry. It was a great feeling because I had been injured and not playing games, so just to come in and win the game for the club was the best moment being here.
“I wasn't surprised because I think the fans really loved that moment It had been a long time since they had experienced such an atmosphere at the Carrow Road, and I was very proud.”
He further reiterated that, he will do anything he can to help the Black Stars qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
“Definitely, I'm dreaming of going to the World Cup because if you're a football player, especially a young player playing in the World Cup says a lot," he told Flashscore.
"I think it's really good to be part, because I want to be part, so I need to do everything to be part of the squad," he added.
