The budding talented shot-stopper has committed his future to the AFAS Stadion outfit until the summer of 2028.
Dutch-born Ghanaian young goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro has signed a long-term contract with Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar after a fruitful negotiation.
The lanky custodian was offered a new two-year contract by the Dutch top-tier outfit following his exciting progress at the club's youth teams since joining the AZ Alkmaar family in 2014.
The club's official statement reads “AZ has broken open the contract of Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro and extended it long-term. The goalkeeper signed a new contract until mid-2028 in the AFAS Stadium”
He penned his first professional contract last year in a deal until 2026 and a new two-year contract extension has been signed to keep him away from future suitors.
The 19-year-old, who was born to a Ghanaian father and Dutch mother, joined AZ Alkmaar at age 10 and has rose through all the ranks of the club.
Owusu-Oduro has been registered as AZ Alkmaar first-team member and a consistent figure in the club's U21 team. He led them to the UEFA Youth League triumph last season with Jayden Addai and Ernest Poku.
"Always a great moment," Owusu-Oduro responds to his contract extension. "I have experienced a lot in 2023. We won the Youth League, I played many matches in the Kitchen Champion Division and I was often in the A-selection in the Eredivisie. I was also allowed to participate in European matches at AZ 1. is the crowning achievement of the past year to now be able to extend.”
“I have been at the club for a long time, where I have grown as a person and as a goalkeeper. It is a long and educational journey that is still ongoing. I continue to work hard every day to work."
Owusu-Oduro is eligible to represent Ghana at any level despite earning call-ups to the Holland U20 and U21 sides.
