Libyan Premier League side Al Ahly Benghazi announced the signing of Ghanaian striker Albert Amoah from Asante Kotoko last week for the 2025–26 season's campaign.
Amoah, who featured in Asante Kotoko's 5-1 embarrassing defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup on Friday evening, didn’t return to Ghana afterwards but rather departed ro Libya to undergo all mandatory medical examination during the weekend to finalize the switch.
The transfer definitely didn’t go down well with majority of the local pundits and football fans especially the Kotoko supporters who seriously queried the reasons behind it and things were clarified by club PRO Samuel Sarfo Duku Esq.
However, Kumasi-based Nhyira FM have revealed the details of Amoah’s contract with the Libyan juggernauts and it is stated he took a signing on fee of a whooping $200,000 and will take home $20,000 every month.
Also, his salary is expected to increase to $25,000 in his second season but the actual amount Asante Kotoko got for the main transfer is still not yet determined.
Albert Amoah arrived at Asante Kotoko last year from Great Olympics and signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The lethal striker became an instant performer for the Porcupine Warriors where he ended the 2024–25 season's campaign as the club's top scorer with 15 goals in 29 matches across all competitions.
He played an instrumental role in the club's FA Cup triumph last season by notching up three goals in four matches.
Amoah netted four goals in six matches for Asante Kotoko in this season's campaign where he scored twice against Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
