Ghanaian midfielder, Salis Abdul Samed finally returned to action over the weekend for Sunderland after several months in their painful 1-2 home loss to Stoke City to exit the Emirates FA Cup in the third round.

The 24-year-old joined the Red-Whites prior to the commencement of the ongoing season from French side RC Lens on a season long loan with the main motive of securing more playing time.

However, the versatile midfielder has been out of action for several months and hasn't played competitively for a while now due to injury

He was finally seen in action for Sunderland last Saturday after coming on in the 79th minute mark to replace Harrison Jones.

Thomas Cannon opened the scoring account for Stoke City in the early minutes of the game but was subsequently equalized by Serbian international Milan Aleksic in the 64th minute.

However, Niall Ennis scored in the extra-time to restore the visitors lead and hand them a precious win to cruise into the next round.

Salis Abdul Samed will hope to stay fully fit from now till summer and command much playing time as he hopes to secure a permanent switch to the Stadium of Light.

He's been out of the Black Stars for sometime now and is most likely to make coach Otto Addo's squad for March's 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad should he find his form back.
