Valencia CF are reportedly monitoring Ghana international Jerome Opoku as part of their planned summer defensive overhaul. The La Liga club, currently 17th in the league standings, have made initial contact with Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir regarding a potential transfer for the 27-year-old centre-back.
Sources indicate that Valencia are prepared to meet Basaksehir’s €8 million valuation and are considering offering Opoku a four-year contract with an annual salary of approximately €2.75 million.
Opoku, who joined Basaksehir in June 2024 and is contracted until 2027, has impressed in Turkey, earning recognition beyond the Süper Lig. His current market value is estimated at €5 million, reflecting his growing reputation.
The Ghanaian defender has also attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Fulham and Nottingham Forest, suggesting that Basaksehir could command strong competition if they decide to sell.
Although no formal offer has yet been submitted, Valencia’s early approach demonstrates their intent to act decisively once the summer transfer window opens. Meanwhile, the Spanish side remain focused on their domestic campaign, preparing for their 21st La Liga fixture against Espanyol.
Opoku’s potential arrival is part of a broader strategy to stabilise Valencia’s squad, strengthen their defensive line, and improve results in the upcoming seasons. The club is keen to secure reinforcements ahead of the next campaign to avoid another relegation battle.
