Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simone has named Ghanaian-born Spanish young midfielder Taufik Seidu in their squad for the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup slated to start in the United States later this month.

Born in Accra on January 20, 2008, Seidou moved to Spain at a young age and joined Atlético Madrid’s academy in 2018.

Over the past six years, the 17-year-old has risen steadily through the youth ranks and is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents at the club.

He plays as a central midfielder for Atlético’s B team in Spain’s third tier and has trained with Diego Simeone’s senior side several times over the past year.

In 2023, Seidu signed his first professional contract with Atlético Madrid, which runs until June 2029.

Technically gifted, tactically mature, and capable of playing both deep and advanced roles, Seidou is seen as a complete midfielder.

At 16, he featured in the UEFA Youth League and scored during a senior team pre-season fixture—further proof of his readiness. Though born in Ghana, Seidou represents Spain at youth level and has captained their U17 national team.

His leadership and consistency have earned praise from Spanish football circles, and he continues to be a regular feature in Spain’s youth national setups.

In the group stage, Atlético will face Paris Saint Germain (France), Seattle Sounders (USA), and Botafogo (Brazil).

The Rojiblancos will kick off their campaign against PSG on June 15.
