The talented defender of Ghanaian descent has revealed interest from Italian clubs ahead of his move to the Danish top-flight outfit during the January transfer window
Ghana-prospect centre-back Jonas Jensen-Abbew has said there had been some talks with Serie A clubs before he finally landed at Danish Superliga side Aarhus GF in the winter transfer window.
The 21-year-old sealed a five-year deal with the Aarhus-based side from FC Nordsjaelland on transfer deadline day.
And now with a host of interested suitors vying for his services, the Ghana-prospect stopper made mention of admirers from the Italian top-flight campaigners, with talks of negotiations in place.
"There has been some talk," the 21-year-old said of Serie A clubs over his pursuit during the winter window to Tipsbladet. "I don't know how concrete it actually ended up being, but there had been a bit of talk back and forth." It was there, yes. There was of course the fact that it had to be a match from my side, but of course there was also something with a transfer fee and such, which had to fit with Nordsjælland. So there were several things that had to come together. And it did here in AGF."
" It was a hectic last few days, and I didn't quite know which direction it was going in. So it was nice when it finally fell into place."
He added on ditching all suitors in favour of his current employers: "There had been a lot of talk back and forth between FC Nordsjælland and me and my agent. We talked about what was best for me and we all agreed that I should play more. It didn't look like it had come to happen in North Zealand just now. So that was also why we started looking at other ways."
"When a club the size of AGF comes and is very interested, it is definitely something you have to consider. And the other things that had been weren't something that I could see myself in that way right now. So AGF was 100 percent the best match that came on the field."
He has so far figured in 5 league games for Aarhus GF in the ongoing Danish Superliga 23/24 football campaign.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Danish U21 national youth team.
