The 25-year-old defender of Ghanaian root was heavily linked with a move away from the Osnabrück-based club to the German Second-Tier outfit this January, but those in the upper echelon of his side have rebuffed those claims

VfL Osnabrück CEO Michael Welling has pointed out that his outfit did not receive any official request for the services of their German-born Ghanaian centre-back Maxwell Gyamfi from German 2. Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern.

Ahead of the winter transfer window, the former Borussia Dortmund youth star was believed to have attracted the attention of the former top-flight campaigners as his current deal is set to expire in June this year.

However, in reacting to the transfer speculation over the hard-tackling rearguard, those in charge of the Stadion an der Bremer Brücke have said there was no such move from the aforementioned suitors over their dependable stopper as they look forward to having him for the rest of the current league campaign.

VfL Chief Executive Officer Michael Welling has told Osnabrück-based newspaper Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung of the said interest on Gyamfi from FCK: ''There was no official request from Kaiserslautern for Maxwell Gyamfi in the winter.''

Gyamfi has so far netted one goal in 18 game appearances across all competitions for VfL Osnabrück in this current 2024-25 football season.

Given his Ghanaian root, he still remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage as he's yet to be cap-tied by the Germany national team.
