West Ham United manager David Moyes has said that he is delighted his club has secured the signature of one of world's ‘most exciting’ players after the arrival of Mohammed Kudus from Ajax.
The Hammers on Sunday evening announced the signing of Ghana international Mohammed Kudus on a five-year deal from Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax for a fee of €45 million.
The 23-year-old, born in Nima, spent three seasons in Amsterdam, scoring 27 goals and providing 12 assists in 87 appearances across all competitions for Ajax.
He is rated among the best young footballers in Europe after breaking through Ghanaian based, Right to Dream Academy to join FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark. He was signed by Ajax in 2020 from Nordsjaelland for nine million euros.
Moyes in an interview with West Ham United official website said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Mohammed Kudus to West Ham United,”
“He’s a terrific young talent, who has already shone at the very highest level for Ajax in the Champions League and made well over 150 senior appearances at the age of 23 – so it was no surprise to see so many top clubs chasing his signature this summer,”
“The fact we’ve been able to attract a player of his undoubted quality to London Stadium shows the pull West Ham have now – the Board and Tim deserve huge credit for getting this one over the line.” he concluded.
The Black Stars attacking midfielder is West Ham's third major summer signing following his former Ajax teammate and Mexico international Edson Álvarez and England midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
Mohammed Kudus will begin training with West Ham United on Monday and prepare for their next Premier League match as they travel to face Luton Town on Friday, September 1.
West Ham are yet to suffer a defeat in the 2023/24 English Premier League season after picking seven points from three games.
