Legendary Ghanaian star Ibrahim Sunday is optimistic that the current crop of Black Stars players will bring glory to Ghana in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Sunday, a former Asante Kotoko and Werder Bremen midfielder in an interview with Citi Sports made an appeal to Ghanaians to throw their mettle behind the Black Stars as they are bent in showing commitment to the task ahead and making the nation proud.
"Whatever we have or we know to do to help the Black Stars do well at the World Cup, as individuals and groups, we have to do it. So that in the end, we all give thanks to the Almighty.
"They [Black Stars] are going to make it “Insha Allah”. But they cannot make it without our support. So we need everyone’s support," Sunday pleaded.
The Black Stars clinched the sole ticket for the 2022 Qatar World Cup on the away goal rule after a 1-1 draw against Super Eagles of Nigeria at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Black Stars will play Switzerland in an international friendly on November 17 before starting their World Cup campaign on November 24 against Portugal.
The four-time (won in 1963, 1965, 1978, and 1982) African champions will wrap-up their group stage fixtures with a game against South Korea and Uruguay.
