The Black Queens of Ghana have inflicted a precious 3-1 win over Namibia in the first leg of the final qualifying round of the 2024 Women's AFCON at the Ohene Gyan Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Doris Boaduwaa came so close to getting the lead but her effort went straight at the throat of the Namibian goalie.

The visitors with the free kick at a very good position and the delivery was a very great one but was dealt with nicely by goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan.

Just a minute on, Doris Boaduwaa scored to open the scoring account for Ghana. Just what they have been hunting for right from onset.

On the 37th minute, captain Portia Boakye doubled the lead for Ghana with a sumptuous goal from a direct corner kick.

In the second half, the Queens once again bounced back on a blistering note as Alice Kusi made her way through the box but was blocked by the travellers defence.

Thirteen minutes from the break, Serbian-based forward Doris Boaduwaa scored again to make her brace and Ghana's third of the day.

Namibia pulled one back on the 69th minute through an own goal.

The Black Queens after this win are now just a game away from qualifying to their first WAFCON since 2018.

The second leg is slated for Tuesday, December 5, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.
